In Vancouver we are staying with my Grandpa and step Grandma, so we didn’t need to find a hotel except me and my sister would rather stay in one, because we both dislike our step grandma very much. After we ate at their house and avoided her as much as possible, they took us to see and go on the famous Capilano suspension bridge, there were many trees, plants and birds around it, it was a beautiful place to look at, but being on the bridge was even better then looking at the scenery. I am not afraid on heights but my mom is, so I was teasing her continuously saying that it was going to break and we would all fall. She was not too pleased. I had a lot of fun though, she not so much, I think she was glad when we were off. After that we visited the PNE ( Pacific National Exhibition). We spent the day there going on rides, in haunted houses and just having a great time. We stayed until closing, and when we got back to my grandparents house we had a campfire in the back and then went to sleep.

Day 2:

The next morning we woke up pretty early because we had a lot planned. The first thing on our to do list after we ate was to go to whistler mountain. We took the ski lift to the very top of the mountain. In the ski lift you could look out and see the whole mountain, which was beautiful we don’t have any big mountains like that in Ontario. When we got down we went to Harrison hot springs, I was there a couple years ago before they put resorts around it, but it was still cool, not as natural as before though. After the hot springs we went sailing on my grandpa’s boat. We sailed up Sunshine coast, which was beautiful. We stopped in this little town to eat at molly’s reach. After eating we sailed back to their house to sleep, because tomorrow we will be driving all the way back to Ontario

As soon as we got to Edmonton we set aside the whole first day to visit the West Edmonton Mall. Its huge! We decided to go shopping first, some of the stores we visited are: Aerie, Costa Blanca, Dynamite, Esprit, Next Exit, Northern Reflections, Sirens, Abercrombie & fitch, American Eagle, Apparel Ink, Bootlegger, Déjà vu, forever 21, GUESS?, French connection, Hollister, Le Chateau, Lucky brand jeans, West 49. These are only some of the many many stores. This mall is so big there is almost every store imaginable, although there was no Hot topic, or Jean Machine unfortunately. After shopping we went to the food court and ate A&W hamburgers, because they’re kind of amazing (: After eating we went to the water park! We spend three hours on water slides in hot tubs and pools. It was all heated and so much fun! Then we went skating, INSIDE A MALL at ice palace, which was an awesome experience. Then of course we had to go to Galaxyland the largest indoor water park and ride all the rides including the famous roller coaster. By the time the mall was closing which was nine, we were already exhausted, so we headed back to our hotel, and went swimming, ordered room service, watched a movie and finally fell asleep.

Day 2:

On our second day in Edmonton we went to go check out the Servus Heritage Festival, here you can see many different cultures and try different foods, speaking of foods, there was a lot of different things to try. There was also music from different places, and little shops that you could buy things that are from different countries and cultures. That was a pretty interesting experience. Next we went to take a tour of Elk Island National Park. Here Canada protects the wilderness of the aspen parkland, one of the most endangered habitats in Canada. There are free roaming bison, moose, elk, hundreds of birds. We hiked, took many pictures of the animals and debated on camping there, unfortunately we couldn’t because it was time to make our way to our next destination!

When we arrived in Yellowknife, Northwest territories we were excited to find out that today was the longest day of the year which in Yellowknife is celebrated as the Raven Mad Daze. People were having so much fun, there were street sales, live bands, and many places to eat. We stayed all night just eating, meeting people, looking in stores, listening to music and dancing. We heard that in a couple hours when the sun comes up again there will be a Midnight Sun golf tournament, we weren’t really that interested in golf plus we were tired so we went to check into a hotel called “ Capital Suites”.

Day 2:

For our second day in Yellowknife, we got up and ate breakfast at the hotel, then we went to the Northern Frontier Visitors Center to rent Canoes. Jolease, Keegan and I shared one, and Doug and my mom took another. We spent the whole afternoon canoeing along the Northern Frontier. It was beautiful, and a lot of fun ! We raced, and almost tipped over since we are not very experienced, but fortunately we didn’t because we were told that the water is very cold even on the warmest days. After canoeing we went to eat at “Trader’s Grill Restaurant”. When I was looking at the menu, I noticed Caribou and musk ox was on there. :o I was surprised because we don’t eat stuff like that in Ontario. I didn’t order it, but Doug did, I was hesitant to try it, but I did and it wasn’t that bad not to different from other meats. After we ate, we drove down to the Aurora village there were tepees which I have never seen before, that we could walk into and see. We looked at the tepees and saw how the natives lived, while we waited to see the Aurora. Which was probably one of the most amazing things I have ever seen!

As soon as we got into Montreal we checked into our Hotel, which we chose to be “The Delta Hotel” we chose this mostly because of the heated indoor pool. After settling in to our hotel we went to visit the Montreal Underground city. It was so awesome! Everything was underground, well obviously.. But there were double story shopping centers, and boutiques and many cafes. I was not surprised at the number of cafes because Montreal is supposed to be known for that. We did some shopping in the boutiques stopping at little cafes from time to time. I heard a lot of French while I was there but I was pleased to know that most of the people spoke a lot of English as well so it wasn’t as difficult to order food or pay for things. After hours of shopping Doug and my mom went to the Casino de Montreal while Jolease, Keegan and I went into the underground cinema to watch a movie. Later on that night we met up back at our hotel, which had an amazing view of downtown Montreal’s exciting nightlife. Oh also another thing, I noticed when we got into Montreal that all the people there were dressed classy, and very nice unlike Toronto were people all look different, a lot looking very sketchy. At the hotel, after we had gone swimming, I looked online to see if I could find out were the very hot 17 year old designer and myspace superstar Alex Evans lived, but unfortunately could not find out plus my mom would not let me go Alex Evans hunting L. Frustrated, I went to sleep.

Day 2:

After we woke up we went to another café downtown to pick some breakfast, got ready, and then we were off to visit family friends that lived in Montreal who we haven’t seen in a very long time. When we got there Lana and Mathew were very happy to see us, although their daughters Milla and Estelle did not recognize us, which is understandable since we had only seen Milla when we was very young and she couldn’t even speak English. The girls didn’t speak much English since they were still young, but they tried to hangout with us anyways, like piggy backs and jumping on us, little kid stuff (: Lana and Mathew offered to take us to go see Old Montreal which we greatly excepted. Old Montreal was simply beautiful with its amazing old buildings and little stores. We didn’t need a tour guide through it since they had been there before. Since we had spent most of the day yesterday shopping, today we went into museums in Old Montreal which happened to be quite interesting. After the museum before our good-byes, we took a ghost walk tour. That was so much fun, they do them in downtown St. Catharines around
halloween but here in this old town were we didn’t know our surroundings very well it was creepier. I thought I saw a real ghost :o. After we said our good-byes and went back to the hotel for the night.

We have arrived in Halifax! Finally. The first thing we did was find a hotel to check into, which happened to be the “ Marriott Harbourfront hotel”. We put our stuff in the room and went off to explore and see what there was to do We went to pier 21 first, I thought it was a pier with some shops on it and stuff but instead I found out that it is an immigration museum. There were pictures and stories about people who helped build our nation. It was like a history lesson, only less boring (; We spent a long time in the museum looking around and learning things about Halifax’s history. Oh and we were there to see the 78th Highland Regiment fire of the cannon. After we saw the museum we went to the 5fishermen restaurant. We all had seafood of some sort, I ate the Nova Scotia lobster.
After we ate we all went to visit the Titanic Victims Cemetery. It was really sad, there were so many people who died, and some still haven’t been found. Then we went back to the hotel to sleep.

Day 2

On our second day in Halifax after we got up and ate, we went hiking in Abrahams Lake Trail, it was beautiful there. Hiking is always a lot of fun. After hiking we went to the Shubenacadie Tidal Bore Rafting Park to go rafting. That was amazing, it was so much fun, definitely made up for the hours in the car squished between Keegan and Jo. The water wasn’t even as cold as I thought it would be, or maybe it was I was just having to much fun to notice. The last thing we did today before going back to the hotel to sleep was going on a boat to go whale watching. That was also very exciting, I even got a picture of one!

Road Trip !

Hello (:

I’m Richinez Melody Genge.
My mom and her boyfriend Doug, decided it would be a great way to spend some of the summer going on a road trip across Canada. HAH, they think it’ll be fun, multiple hours with Keegan my moms boyfriends daughter, my sister Jolease and I in the backseat with hardly any room, yeah right. I am going to have to listen to them argue the whole way about the lack of room and anything else that seems to annoying them, while I’m stuck in the middle of it. Oh yeah my sister also has this wonderful habit of sticking her head out the window and screaming MOO at all the cows we drive past.. yeah fun.
